Who knew Cuba had a judo team? Well, apparently they have powerhouse team and one of the team members is missing. Defected? That's not certain yet.
Black Cuban athlete, Yurisel Laborde was a gold medal winner at last week's Pan Am Judo competition here in Miami. Sunday afternoon she packed her things and left a note. She has not been seen or heard from since then. It would be nice to know what she wrote in the note but that has not been made public.
The Pan Am Judo Federation competition is an important of the competition to qualify for the Olympic Games. The Cuban team has been in town since Tuesday despite protests from Miami's Cuban exile community. If Laborde misses the team's 2 p.m. flight today, she may be considered a defector.
