Broward County, FL- On January 17th - 19th, in beautiful Hallandale Beach, The Community Civic Association and The City of Hallandale Beach will be Celebrating our 21st year since Hallandale Beach recognized the holiday, our MLK Day parade is truly “the people's parade.” We have no staff, only a small group of volunteers working with little budget, and so our success is due to the combined volunteer support of our local community and its rainbow of organizations.
Our weekend celebration kicks-off on Saturday, January 17th, 2009 @ 12:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. with a Scholarship Luncheon in which all proceeds go directly to our scholarship fund to help serve the needs of our high school seniors who proceed to various institutes of higher learning. The luncheon will be held at the Hallandale Beach Community Cultural Center, 410 SE. 3rd Street, Hallandale Beach. The program will feature DJ Sylvester "Chico The Virgo" Wesley, Founder of Joshua's Heart, young seven-year old Philanthropist Joshua Williams along with with other entertainers in the creative area of spoken word, dance, drama, and song. The program will also feature Hallandale High School's: John Battle Theater Ensemble depicting the chosen theme.

Table sponsors are available for $400.00 and proper recognition will be provided by tabletop display and stage announcements of appreciation.
The 21st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade in Hallandale Beach is coming up! It is with great pleasure that The Community Civic Association, Inc. extends a warm invitation to your organization to participate in this year's parade, which is scheduled for Monday, January 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. The parade is established in recognition of the civil rights leader as for the enjoyment of our city residents and surrounding communities. Parade Line-up will begin promptly at 8:45 A.M. The parade begins promptly at 10:00 A.M. (B.F. James Park, 101 NW 9th Street, Hallandale Beach). This year's Grand Marshalls are: Joann Sampson, Senior Olympian, and seven-year old Philanthropist, Joshua Williams. This year's City of Hallandale Beach Humanitarian Award Receipient, Kennedy Stevens of E.A. Stevens Funeral Home, Hallandale Beach will also be featured in this year's parade.
We are asking that your media represenatives join us in this festive occasion. We are also asking that our parade be televised live so that people may see the hard work and dedication volunteers has done as well as having people that are wheel-chair bound to see and enjoy the parade.
