The time and venue for the May 3rd Mayoral Policy Forum at the University of Miami have changed. Communication from The Miami Foundation, one of the hosts of the event, indicates the changes were made to accommodate overwhelming demand and to allow an opportunity to further engage students.
The forum will now be held at the University of Miami's BankUnited Center Fieldhouse (1245 Dauer Drive, Coral Gables) from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm followed by a meet and greet reception at 5 pm.
It’s unfortunate that many interested voters such as I who are parents and/or individuals with traditional workday schedules are now excluded from attending such an important community event. If you fall into one or both of those groups and are still interested in learning more about the candidates and the charter amendments to be voted on, mark your calendar for the NAACP Mayoral Forum, 6:30 pm, Monday, May 16, 2011 at New Birth Baptist Cathedral of Faith International, 2300 NW 135th Street, Miami, FL 33167-1356. Surely there are other forums scheduled. We will post their specifics as they are made availalbe to us. Regardless of which you forum attend, make sure you are an informed voter.
As of this posting, the following candidates are confirmed for Tuesday’s event at UM:
- Roosevelt Bradley
- Luther Campbell
- Jose Cancio
- Carlos Gimenez
- Marcelo Llorente
- Julio Robaina
