Local residents Felix Williams and Eddie Cooper were selected for induction into the 2011 class of the Florida A&M University Sports Hall of Fame. Both played football at FAMU. Williams, a Miami native, is a graduate of Miami Central High School where he was the school’s first football player named to the All-County Football Team in 1970. He is also a successful businessman and mentor. Cooper, a native of Plant City, FL is a recent retiree from the administrative ranks of the technology department of Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Other inductees were William “Soup” Campbell (Baseball); Clarence “Hawk” Hawkins (Football); Shaunta Pelham (Track & Field); and FAMU President Dr. James Ammons (Supporter).
