Reverend Al Sharpton and his national civil rights organization, National Action Network (NAN), establish a prominent presence in South Florida today with the installation of the Miami-Dade Chapter of NAN. As part of NAN’s Voter Engagement Tour, Rev. Sharpton was the guest speaker at the 11:00 a.m. service at New Birth Baptist Church Cathedral of Faith International where Bishop Victor T. Curry, national NAN board member, presides.
The day-long program will focus on creating an infrastructure in each city to continue voter education and protection. Teaming up with Education for a Better America, NAN will host a workshop during the latter part of the afternoon designed to inform the voting public and engagement volunteers about new and existing laws that will impact them in their respective communities. The day concludes with a rally scheduled at New Birth at 7:30 p.m.
