Miami-Dade County Public Schools Division of Social Sciences, in collaboration with the Miami-Dade County Elections Office, is conducting a Student Voter Registration Drive in preparation for the upcoming General Election in November. If you are the parent, guardian or friend of an eligible M-DCPS student, make sure they take advantage of this opportunity and get registered.
The fall Student Voter Registration Drive will be held at all M-DCPS senior high schools starting Monday, September 10, 2012 and ending on Monday, September 17, 2012.
The students primarily targeted for registration are those who will be 18 years of age on or before October 6, 2012 who have not previously registered. These students will be eligible to vote in the General Election on November 6, 2012. Other eligible students may pre-register as well.
Please share this information with your churches and other organizations. This drive is for M-DCPS students at their respective high school. This is not an opportunity for the general public to register at a Miami-Dade County Public School.
No excuses. Make voting a family affair. Remember, if you're not at the table, you're on the menu. If you are not a M-DCPS student, and want to register, go to gottaregister.com.
UPDATE: Parents, guardians, etc., please make sure your young adults understand they should select a Political Party (affiliation) when registering and not leave that portion blank before turning in their voter registration form. Now is the time time to have a discussion with them about registering as a Democrat, Republican or Independent. While I have my preference as to how they should register, the choice is theirs. Don't allow them to be uninformed and at the mercy of someone who might choose for them.
