Check out season three of HGTV's Design Star which premieres at 9 ET on Sunday, June 8th.This season's contestants include local police officer, Mikey Verdugo, who considers himself the total package when it comes to designing and construction. Mikey's cousin taught him to build a house when Mikey was just 15.

Verdugo was featured on Channel 7 News; he seems like a really nice guy. He is one of nine contestants on a show that is about a lot more than designing. The show has already been taped and he's not spilling the beans on the outcome.

Season one's winner was David Bromstad of Miami. He's now the star of his own show on HGTV, Color Splash. Good luck, Mikey!
