South Miami commissioners suddenly fire city manager

In a sudden vote that surprised city staff members and prompted the mayor to storm out of the room, South Miami commissioners this week fired their manager.

Tuesday evening's 3-1 vote ousting City Manager Ajibola Balogun leaves the city searching for a replacement -- but saying little about why the pink slip came.

The firing was not on the agenda. Instead, after a contentious discussion about where on the agenda last-minute resolutions belong, Vice Mayor Brian Beasley moved to fire Balogun.
