Virginia Key Beach
Sunday, May 01, 2011
A recent visit to Virginia Key Beach revealed a quiet beach area not used by many blacks, the very people who were relegated to this small patch of beach during racial segregation.
As with the parks, schools and other icons in the black community, when we fail to participate, we contribute to the disconnect and lack of individual and racial group pride displayed by our children. It's crucial that our legacy is not lost. Take your family for a nice afternoon visit to Virginia Key Beach.
