Former North Miami Police Chief Gwen Boyd announced, via her Facebook profile, her candidacy for North Miami Mayor in 2013. Current Mayor Andre Pierre is serving his final term.

Chief Boyd's election to lead the City of North Miami just might unite a painfully politically and ethnically fractured city. Stay tuned.
