TRANSIT SERVICES TO BE IMPACTED TODAY DURING PRESIDENTIAL VISIT

(MIAMI, June 12, 2013) – Miami-Dade Transit’s Metrorail and Metromover service will experience intermittent delays between 5:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Today, June 12, 2013 to accommodate security measures for President Barack Obama’s visit to Miami. Metrobus service in and near downtown Miami will also be impacted.
Miami-Dade Transit is asking passengers who have specific scheduling requirements or are planning to use the Orange Line to travel to Miami International Airport to give themselves ample time to arrive at their destination.
Metrorail and Metromover service will be intermittent between 5:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. with interruptions of between 25 to 30 minutes throughout this time frame.
To be notified of transit service disruptions, transit riders can register to receive Rider Alerts by visiting: http://miamidade.gov/wps/portal/Main/transitrideralerts . In the event of a service disruption or delay, transit users will receive a message with details on the device of their choice.
For more information, transit riders can call 305-891-3131, weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. TTY users can call 305-499-8971.
