It's Florida Classic Time!

This weekend, all roads lead to Orlando, Florida for the Florida Classic, 2 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Citrus Bowl as the Florida A&M University Rattlers meet the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats.

The day kicks off at 9 a.m. with the ESPN Classic FanFare 9:00 a.m. featuring performances by DJ Khaled and B. Smyth. The tailgating and trash-talking between in-state rival fans will be in full effect.

There are a number of other events scheduled including a kickoff luncheon (Sorry, it's already sold-out); Battle of the Bands; job fair and symposium. No disrespect to any of the other participants, but if you attend the battle of the bands, be sure to look for the Baron Collier High School band from Naples, Florida. Comedian Kevin Hart will host the Official Florida Classic After Party at the Majestic Events Center.

The Florida Classic will pump millions of dollars into the Orlando area economy, however, a number of post game parties and activities are scheduled that will not financially benefit either FAMU or Bethune so please support officially sanctioned activities.

In the midst of the frivolity among fans and historic rivalry between both universities, no doubt solemnity will loom as the hazing death of FAMU drum major Robert Champion after the Classic game in 2011cannot be forgotten. Have a great weekend and safe travels to all.
